Clinical information
suPAR (soluble urokinase-plasminogen-activator receptor) is a biomarker that correlates with the activity of systemic, chronic inflammatory processes. Elevated suPAR levels are found in cardiovascular diseases, type 2 diabetes, cancer, renal diseases and chronic infections, among others, and are generally an indication of unfavourable progression. Levels between 3-6 ng/ml can be associated with accelerated aging and an unhealthy lifestyle.
Acute inflammation has no significant influence on suPAR.
