Immunohistochemistry and Immunocytochemistry at labor team
In our Department of Immunohistochemistry (IHC) and Immunocytochemistry, specific proteins in tissue and on cells are made visible using special antibodies and highly sensitive staining and detection methods. Tumours that are hardly distinguishable by standard staining can thus be clearly differentiated and classified. In addition, individual statements on the probable course of the disease and on the therapeutic response to certain drugs become possible. Last but not least, the immunohistochemical method is used to detect a wide variety of viruses and bacteria.
Immunohistological diagnostics: Highly standardised and broad-based
Since the immunohistochemical procedure is highly accurate, but also prone to failure, a high degree of standardisation is required. We achieve this by using fully automated staining machines and high-quality antibodies. In our laboratory, more than 100 different antibodies are currently used for routine immunohistological diagnostics. We thus cover a broad spectrum of therapy-relevant molecules, pathogen-specific antigens and various target antigens.
Additional immunohistochemical service: HER2 testing with SISH/silver in situ hybridisation
In addition to conventional immunohistochemical examinations, we also offer silver in situ hybridisation for HER2 testing. With the help of this method, breast and gastric cancer patients with HER2 activation can be correctly identified and optimally treated with medication.
